Green Norms For Green Energy: Small Hydro Power
In India, small hydro power plants – those plants which have a generating capacity of below 25 megawatt (MW) – have been categorized as ‘green’ and ‘renewable’ by the Union ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE). A new analysis done by Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), says that the small hydro power sector is not as ‘green’ as it is painted out to be.
