Legends of Paritta: Protective Chants and Background Stories was translated from ตำนานพระปริตร--Tamnan Phra Paritta Composed by สมเด็จพระมหาธีราจารย์--Somdech Phramahadhirajahn (Niyom Thanissara Mahāthera, who completed and taught Pali Nine, the highest level of Pali studies in Thailand. The Somdech was Lord Abbot of Wat Chanasongkram, the Ecclesiastical Chief Superintendent of the Central Region of Thailand (เจ้าคณะใหญ่หนกลาง), and an Executive Member of the Thai Ecclesiastical Supreme Sangha Council (มหาเถรสมาคม – Mahathera Samakom). This English translation of the Somdech's Tamnan Phra Paritta is a commemorative edition prepared by for his crematory memorial in 2011 , and includes a biography. It was edited by his disciple Phra Chaokhun Vitesdhammakavi overseeing an Editorial Committee including Ven. Ayya Tathaaloka, Ms. Sutsanee Komalarjan and Brenda Walsh. This commemorative volume was published at Wat Buddhanusorn Buddhist Temple in the San Francisco East Bay, USA.
