Luanshya Akatiti Dam

The Zambian Copperbelt province is peppered with tailings dams containing a high grade of copper, a grade which will be classified as ore in many countries. Because of the oxidised state of the copper, it is amenable to leaching and solvent extraction for recovering the copper. These dams were built when 1) The ore grades were higher, and 2) The processing plants were not as efficient. These two reasons are responsible for the high copper content. By using this methodology, an environmental liability can be converted to an asset. In addition, the expensive cost of mining virgin ore is short circuited by treating such resource. The author is aware of six such dams in Zambia. The economic climate is favourable for such business ventures. Should you be interested in investing in one of these ventures, the author is available at short notice to provide unbiased and independent professional advice.
