When this happens, and the foundation subsides, the web deflections in the machinery crankshafts can go beyond OEM specifications. In the limit, excessive web deflections can cause crankshaft fatigue failures. A common approach to restoring the crankshaft web deflections is a very costly regrout of the machine.
